چکیده

When solving hard multicommodity network flow problems using an LP-based approach, the number of commodities is a driving factor in speed at which LP can be solved, as it linear constraints and variables. The conventional approach to improve solve time relaxation Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model that encodes such instance aggregate all have same origin or destination. However, bound resulting significantly worsen, tempers efficiency aggregating techniques. In this paper, we introduce concept partial aggregation aggregates over subset instead entire underlying network. This offers high level control on trade-off between size aggregated MIP quality its bound. We apply two different models for design problem. Our computational study benchmark instances confirms controlled by aggregation, choosing good allow us original large-scale faster than without with full aggregation. • new commodity representations problems. aggregations fixed-charge design. polyhedra proposed existing formulations. perform extensive instances.

Scale Multicommodity Capacitated Fixed-Charge Network Design

We present a branch-and-price-and-cut algorithm for solving large-scale instances of the multicommodity capacitated fixed-charge network design problem. The restricted master problem solved at each column generation iteration is obtained directly from the compact arc-based model by considering only a subset of the commodity flow variables. The pricing subproblem corresponds to a Lagrangian rela...

Cycle-Based Neighbourhoods for Fixed-Charge Capacitated Multicommodity Network Design

We propose new cycle-based neighbourhood structures for meta-heuristics aimed at the fixedcharge capacitated multicommodity network design formulation. The neighbourhood defines moves that take explicitly into account the impact on the total design cost of potential modifications to the flow distribution of several commodities simultaneously. Moves are identified through a shortest path-like ne...

Multicommodity Network Flow Problems

In this paper, we consider to apply a primal-dual proximal point algorithm to the multicommodity network flow problem. A remarkable feature of the algorithm consists in how to find an approximate saddle point of the augmented Lagrangian of the problem. In particular, at each iteration, an approximate solution of the subproblem always satisfies the flow conservation equations for all commodities...

A parallel local search framework for the Fixed-Charge Multicommodity Network Flow problem

We present a parallel local search approach for obtaining high quality solutions to the Fixed Charge Multicommodity Network Flow problem (FCMNF). The approach proceeds by improving a given feasible solution by solving restricted instances of the problem where flows of certain commodities are fixed to those in the solution while the other commodities are locally optimized. We derive multiple ind...
